Executive Advisory

Every major decision deserves a clear-headed outside view.

Forgebterra's executive advisory service gives founders and senior leaders a direct, confidential partner for the decisions that can't go to a committee.

What executive advisory actually means here

Advisory at Forgebterra isn't a vague relationship with a former executive who takes your calls. It's a structured, ongoing engagement with a named consultant who knows your business deeply — your market context, your team dynamics, your decision-making patterns. We work with you across a defined set of recurring sessions, each with a pre-agreed agenda built around your most pressing decisions, and we're available between sessions when something time-sensitive comes up. Engagements run in three-month blocks and are renewed based on whether the working relationship is genuinely useful. We typically take on no more than six advisory clients at any one time, which keeps the engagement substantive rather than superficial. Our advisory clients are typically founders, CEOs, or senior functional leaders at Malaysian businesses navigating growth, transition, or competitive disruption.

What an advisory engagement covers

Structured, not open-ended — each quarter has a clear focus and a defined set of working sessions.

Monthly deep-dive sessions

Two structured two-hour sessions per month, each built around the decisions and situations your business is navigating right now — not a generic agenda. Sessions include a written summary with agreed next steps.

Between-session access

When a time-sensitive decision comes up — a acquisition offer, a leadership departure, a customer crisis — you can reach your assigned consultant directly within twenty-four hours, not at the next scheduled call.

Quarterly strategy review

At the end of each three-month block, we review the decisions made, the outcomes so far, and whether the engagement focus needs to shift. This keeps the advisory work grounded in what's actually changing in your business.

Network connections

Where relevant, we make specific introductions to operators, investors, or sector specialists in our Malaysian professional network — only when we're confident the connection adds genuine value.

“I'd been running the business for nine years and felt like I was making decisions in a vacuum. Having someone who understood the business context deeply enough to push back on my assumptions — not just validate them — changed how I make decisions. The restructuring we planned in Q2 would not have happened without those conversations.”

Advisory is a fit only when certain conditions are met

Executive advisory works best when you, as the client, are genuinely open to outside challenge — not looking for validation of decisions already made. If you need someone to endorse your existing plan rather than pressure-test it, this isn't the right engagement. It also works best when you can commit to the recurring session cadence; advisory relationships that go weeks without contact lose their depth quickly. We won't take on a client we don't believe we can genuinely help, and we'll say so directly at the intake call. Advisory engagements do not include deliverable production — if you need research, financial models, or process designs built, you'll want our Strategy or Operations practices instead.
